Eric “E.V.” Vaughn, Sr., aka “THE GEEKER” hails from Clarksdale, Mississippi, where his friends called him Howard Cosell as a child. He has always loved sports and has never been shy about giving his opinion on any subject.
E.V. attended elementary and Jr High school in Mississippi and moved to Saginaw, Michigan to attend High school. He was an All-State basketball player at Saginaw Valley Lutheran High School. He attended Michigan Christian College, a small college where he led the team to a national championship. He was named MVP and 1st Team All-American. He was most recently inducted into their Hall of Fame.
He went on to attend Indiana University/Purdue at Fort Wayne (IPFW), where he holds the single season record for free throw percentage. After attending IPFW, E.V. was an assistant coach at Indiana Institute of Technology for 3 years. E.V.’s coaching career also includes the following… Women’s Assistant Coach at Miss Valley State University, Assistant Coach with the Continental Basketball Association (CBA)’s Fort Wayne Fury, Assistant Coach with the CBA’s Gary Steelheads, Head Coach of the South Side High School Girls’ Varsity Basketball Team (Fort Wayne, Indiana), Head Coach of the Keystone High School Boys’ Varsity Basketball team (Fort Wayne, Indiana). During the spring and summer (2000-2008), E.V. was the overseer of the nationally ranked Blessed IJN AAU Basketball Program, sponsored by Reebok. E.V. has also done color commentary for the NBA (National Basketball Association) G-League team, the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
EV was the voice of the JPS Athletics for their 2020-2021 Basketball season. He is also the founder and host of The Geeker Report Podcast and Talkin Hoops in DA SIP.
EV most recently was the Interim Men’s Head Basketball Coach at Miss Delta Community College.
