What exactly is the GSA Awards?
The First Annual Geeker’s Sports Achievement Awards Metro Edition (G.S.A.M.E.), is an event being held to celebrate the accomplishments of athletes in the Metropolitan Jackson Area from the private and public schools located in Hinds, Madison, Copiah, Rankin, Yazoo, and Warren Counties.
This year we are honoring some of the top basketball players along with some of the top coaches in the Metro area. It is our hope that this kind of publicity will serve to motivate these athletes to make positive choices which propel them to success in every area of their lives.
It will be held in April beginning at 6:30 p.m. There will be a reception beginning at 5:30 p.m., where free food will be served to all in attendance.
When did the GSA Awards begin?
The Geeker Report was originally a printed publication, but now has become an online sports news source that reports on local, state, national, and international sports news, thereby creating revenue to invest in the lives of young athletes in Wayne County and Eastern North Carolina. The first issue of The Geeker Report was published in April 2011. In conjunction with the first publication, we partnered with several local agencies to hold the First Annual G. S. A. Awards where we gave out over 200 awards. Since our inception over a six year period we have given out over 1200 awards to over 600 local high school and middle school athletes and we have had several thousand people from the local community in attendance.
Where and when the event be held?
The 2023 GSA Awards Metro Edition will be held at a location TBD. The location and the date will be announced on Feb 1, 2023. The event will take place in April 2023.

2023 GSA Voting Process
All committee members will vote on each category their choice for the winner. Each committee member vote counts as 1 point. The chairman of the committee vote counts for 2 points.
All Head Coaches can vote on each category there choice for the winner. Each Head Coach vote counts as 1 point.
All fans can vote on each category there choice for the winner. The winner of the fan voting in each category gets 1 point.
In case of a tiebreaker the chairman will make the final decision
How can I help Sponsor the event?
We are asking local businesses to join us and invest in the lives of these young people as event sponsor. Each sponsor will have an opportunity to have their name attached to an award.
